A 45-year-old man has been jailed for burgling a number of addresses in East Sussex.
Anthony Bowles, of no fixed address, went on a burglary spree in Lewes and Uckfield in April this year.
The week-long spree between 18 and 23 April saw Bowles burgle two addresses, attempt to burgle another address, and steal a car which he drove to a service station to buy alcohol, cigarettes and food using a stolen bank card.
Bowles was arrested on 23 April within hours of his final break in at an address in Eastbourne Road, Uckfield.
Following rapid investigations, officers were able to link Bowles to his other offences.
Bowles was charged the next day with two counts of burglary, attempted burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, fraud by false representation, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court and was remanded into custody ahead of his trial.
On 19 October at Hove Crown Court, Bowles was found guilty of the same offences by a jury.
Anthony Bowles, 45, was jailed for four years and six months.
Detective Sergeant Jake O’Reilly said “I'd like to thank the victims, witnesses, and members of the public who assisted our investigation and ensured that Bowles was brought to justice for his offending.
“This conviction demonstrates that those who commit burglary in Sussex can expect to be identified, arrested, and brought before the courts.
“We will continue to use any investigative opportunity available to target offenders, protect residents, and ensure victims receive the justice they deserve."
