Police investigating a fatal motorcycle collision on the M27 between Fareham and Portsmouth are appealing for the driver of a Mercedes to come forward after vehicle debris was recovered from the scene.
A man in his 60s died following the collision on the eastbound carriageway between junction 11 at Fareham and junction 12 at Portsmouth on Friday 16 October.
Hampshire Police were called to the scene at 6.39am following reports of a collision involving a black and white Triumph motorcycle.
Despite the emergency response, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
Detectives from Hampshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are continuing their enquiries to establish exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the fatal incident.
As part of the investigation, officers have recovered debris which they believe may have come from a Mercedes GLA.
Police are now urging anyone who owns or drives this type of vehicle, particularly one with damage to the front, to get in touch if they were travelling along the M27 around the time of the collision.
Investigators are also keen to speak to motorists who were travelling between the Fareham and Portsmouth junctions on Friday morning and may have witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it.
Officers have made a specific appeal for dashcam footage from white coaches which were seen travelling in the area at the time.
Police believe footage from coaches travelling in either direction could provide important evidence to help establish the circumstances of the collision.
The investigation remains ongoing, with detectives exploring several lines of enquiry.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, has relevant dashcam footage or has information about a Mercedes GLA with front-end damage is being urged to contact Hampshire Police.
Information can be reported by calling 101 and quoting reference 44260508127.
