Man wanted in UK over murder of wife and two children admits unlawful possession of firearm

A man suspected of murdering his wife and two children in the UK has admitted unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The bodies of Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, and her daughters Natalie, 15, and five-year-old Nala were found in a house in Great Denham, Bedfordshire, on 6 July.

They were discovered after concerns were raised that they had not been seen for several days.

Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, 45, who also goes by the name Mark, appeared before magistrates in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

As well as the guilty pleas entered for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition charges, he admitted contravening the Immigration Act as he entered South Africa while being a fugitive from the UK.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in England authorised three charges of murder against Tshuma in July.

Following a post-mortem examination that month, the cause of death for the family members was listed as "blunt force trauma".

Tshuma was charged in South Africa with illegal possession of a firearm, which carries a potential 15-year prison sentence for first-time offenders.

After an international manhunt, he was arrested in Johannesburg in July with support from Interpol.

Tshuma left the UK two days before the bodies were discovered, according to Bedfordshire Police.

He is a British citizen of Zimbabwean heritage, according to the force.

The arrest came shortly after the CPS said it had authorised charges against him.

A relative spoke of the family's "unimaginable loss" in a statement issued by police following their deaths.
