A27 closed both directions near Chichester

Emergency services are on the scene of an incident on the A27.

We understand the A27 is closed in both directions between A259 Fishbourne Roundabout and A259 Emsworth Junction.

Emergency crews have been on scene since around 5:30am.

On socials Sussex Police have released the following statement:

The A27 is currently closed in both directions at Southbourne while we respond to a medical incident.

Emergency services are responding to concerns for a girl’s welfare.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area or find alternative routes.

Officers have thanked the public for their patience while we respond to this incident.

We will provide more details when we have them.
