
Traffic on the A27 around Chichester was gridlocked once again after a second vehicle fire in just a week and reports of a crash.
West Sussex Fire & Rescue crews were called to the scene near the Stockbridge Roundabout, where the road was closed in both directions, yesterday afternoon (07/08/2025)
Drivers were urged to avoid the area and allow emergency services to manage the incident safely.
A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said: “Yesterday we were called at 3.09pm to a car fire on the A27 Stockbridge Roundabout, Chichester.
“Joint Fire Control mobilised three fire engines to the scene.
“Upon arrival crews found a car well alight. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using a hose reel.
“Crews left the scene at 4.08pm.”
