Police in Eastbourne have been called to a hotel on Burlington Place this morning. (29/11/2025)
It's understood that a man threatened to harm himself early this morning and police were called to the scene, to a hotel on Burlington Place in Eastbourne.
The incident is said to have taken place just before 8am (29/11/2025) what we know so far is that a man barricaded himself in his room, police did eventually manage to get in after a period of time.
It's understood a man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is now in police custody.
There are several hotels and B&Bs along Burlington Place, the majority of the police vehicles were seen outside the Hadleigh Hotel, according to eyewitnesses.
Full statement from Sussex Police: "Police were called to a report of a man who had threatened to harm himself at a hotel in Burlington Place, Eastbourne, at 7.50am on Saturday, 29 November.
"Officers attended but the man had barricaded himself in his room and refused to engage. After a period of negotiation, the officers entered the property, and the man was arrested on suspicion of assault. He remains in police custody.
"No one was harmed and there was no risk to the wider public."
