A man has been charged after an 84-year-old woman was found deceased in her home in Aldwick.
On Sunday, 31 May at around 2pm, emergency services attended Langley Grove in Aldwick, after welfare concerns were raised for a resident inside an address.
Officers entered, and sadly found an elderly woman, now identified as 84-year-old Beryl Pyke, deceased inside with serious injuries. Her next of kin have been informed and our thoughts remain with them at this incredibly difficult time.
78-year-old Michael Pyke was promptly arrested at the scene and has since been charged with murder.
Pyke, a British national, of Langley Grove, Aldwick, is due to appear before Crawley Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 3 June.
Detective Superintendent Colin Garman said: "Following such a significant and tragic incident, an investigation remains well underway.
"Officers continue to carry out a number of enquiries at the address and in the surrounding area, and an increased police presence will remain visible at this time.
"We recognise the impact this incident has had on the local community and thank residents for their patience and support as the investigation progresses.
"Anyone who may have information that could assist police enquiries is asked to come forward and speak to us.
