The University of Chichester has been named the number one university in the South East for teaching quality and lecturers in new rankings from WhatUni.
The recognition comes through the WhatUni Student Choice Awards, which are decided entirely by students. Each year, WhatUni collects tens of thousands of student reviews from across the UK and uses them to calculate the winners.
The latest award is further recognition for the University of Chichester, which was also named University of the Year for Teaching Excellence by the Daily Mail last year.
The university also holds a gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework and continues to perform strongly for graduate employability. According to the university, 91% of its students are in work six months after leaving.
In the National Student Survey 2025, Chichester was rated 12th out of 131 universities nationally and first in the South East for student satisfaction.
Professor Symeon Dagkas, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Chichester, said: “I’m delighted that WhatUni users have voted us as number one in the South East for lecturers and teaching quality. Teaching excellence can make or break the university experience for students, and we are proud of our reputation. These awards are based on reviews from students past and present, so their views really matter to us.”
WhatUni praised the University of Chichester, saying: "For those who enjoy a campus with a close-knit community, Chichester ticks all the boxes, with an enthusiastic team of teaching staff who are always willing to listen and help.”
The university says the results reflect its continued focus on teaching, student experience and preparing graduates for employment.
