Police are appealing for help to identify two women they want to speak to following an incident in Fareham involving counterfeit cash.
Officers say the incident happened on the evening of May 12, when two women arrived at an address in Fareham to collect a mobile phone which had been advertised for sale online.
The women paid £430 in cash before leaving the address.
However, after they had gone, it was established that the bank notes used in the transaction were counterfeit.
Police say the online profile used by the buyers was then deleted.
Officers are now linking the Fareham incident to two other similar reports in the wider area.
Those incidents happened in Bursledon on April 25 and in Fareham on April 26.
In each case, mobile phones had been advertised for sale online and were then paid for using hundreds of pounds in counterfeit cash.
Police are now asking members of the public to look carefully at the images released as part of their appeal.
They want to speak to the two women pictured, as they believe they may be able to help with their enquiries.
The incidents are a reminder for people selling items online to take care when arranging in-person transactions, particularly where large sums of cash are involved.
Anyone selling high-value items is encouraged to check notes carefully, meet in a safe location where possible, and be cautious if an online profile is deleted shortly after a sale.
Anyone who recognises the women, or who has any information which could assist the investigation, is being urged to contact police.
Information can be reported online or by calling 101, quoting reference number 44260223736.
