Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a property in Aldwick on Sunday afternoon (31 May).
Emergency services were called to a property in Langley Grove at around 2pm to reports of concern for the welfare of a woman.
On arrival, an 84-year-old woman was sadly found deceased. Her next of kin have been informed.
A 78-year-old man from Aldwick was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, and remains in custody at this time.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Campbell said: “This is a tragic loss of life and specialist detectives are working hard to understand the full circumstances of the situation.
“Officers swiftly detained a suspect, and at this point we are not looking for anyone else in connection to the incident. There is not believed to be any wider threat to the public.
“There will be a police presence at the property in Langley Grove over the coming days as we gather any evidence, and I ask neighbouring residents for their patience and understanding while this work is carried out.
“If you have any information that you feel could help the investigation, please contact police online or via 101, quoting Operation Mayland.”
