A 41-year-old man from Worthing has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.
It comes after a 33-year-old woman, who is known to him, presented to hospital with a neck wound around 6am on Friday 29 May.
She was treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries, and she remains in a stable condition.
The incident is reported to have occurred in the vicinity of Downview Road and Tarring Road, West Worthing, in the early hours of Friday.
A police investigation is underway and anyone who saw what happened or has any relevant footage is asked to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 334 of 29/05.
The suspect remains in custody at this time.
