Police are investigating after the body of a man was found on the beach at Rottingdean.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Friday morning, May 29, following reports that a body had been discovered on the beach.
Sussex Police say the man has not yet been formally identified, and enquiries are now taking place to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death.
A cordon remains in place while officers continue their work at the scene.
In a statement, Sussex Police said:
“Police were called to the beach at Rottingdean on Friday morning, 29 May, after a report of a body of a man found on the beach.
“He has not yet been formally identified and enquiries are being made to establish the full circumstances.”
The discovery has prompted a police presence in the area, with members of the public being urged to avoid the cordoned-off section of the beach while enquiries continue.
No further details about the man’s identity, age, or the circumstances in which he was found have yet been released.
The incident comes just over two weeks after the bodies of three women, who were later confirmed to be sisters, were recovered from the water near Brighton Marina.
