Family and friends of an 11-year-old boy from Chichester are raising money after he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
Maison has been diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
According to a fundraising appeal, Maison first became unwell around two weeks ago, when he stopped eating properly, began losing weight and was generally poorly. His family say he was not himself, prompting a trip to hospital.
Doctors then discovered a mass in his leg, which was later found to be a cancerous tumour. Further tests showed the cancer had spread to other parts of his body, including his groin, chest, and spine.
Maison was blue-lighted to Southampton to begin emergency treatment. However, his loved ones say they are now trying to raise money urgently so they can explore further treatment options further afield and give him the best possible chance.
The appeal says Maison is currently undergoing treatment for stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma and describes him as “the most kindest beautiful boy”.
Family and friends say the fundraiser was initially set up to support Maison’s family, but has now become a fight to find the best treatment available.
They say time is not on his side and are urging people to help in any way they can.
A JustGiving page has been set up to help fund potentially life-saving treatment and support the family during what they describe as a desperate and heartbreaking time.
Those behind the appeal say they are asking the community to share Maison’s story, donate if possible and help give him the best chance of survival.
