The Rockinghorse Children’s Charity is encouraging young people across Sussex to lace up their trainers and take part in this year’s Brighton Half Youth Race.
The charity is the official charity partner for the event, which will take place on Saturday the 28th of February, alongside the popular Brighton Half Marathon weekend. The youth race is designed to give children and teenagers the chance to experience the excitement of a major running event in a fun, inclusive and supportive environment.
Open to anyone aged between seven and seventeen, the race welcomes participants of all abilities. Young runners will complete a one-mile course along Hove Promenade, taking in views of the seafront before crossing the finish line to receive a medal in recognition of their achievement.
By taking part, runners will also be helping to support the vital work of Rockinghorse Children’s Charity, which raises funds to improve the lives of sick children and babies across Sussex. The charity supports projects at hospitals including the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton, helping to provide specialist equipment, services and support for families when they need it most.
Places are still available for those who want to run in support of the charity at the Brighton Half Youth Race. Young people who have already secured a place directly through the race organisers are also invited to join Team Rockinghorse as an “own place” runner. They will receive the same team experience, without a set fundraising target, and any amount raised will be gratefully received.
For more information or to join Team Rockinghorse, families are encouraged to email Supporter Engagement Manager Emma Henderson at jules@rockinghorse.org.uk, or call 01273 330 044.
V2VOUCHERS.CO.UK is offering half-price deals on a wide range of experiences across the South, from meals out at local restaurants to tickets for some of the region’s biggest events.
