Hundreds of runners are preparing to line up for this year’s Chichester Half Marathon, which returns to the city this Sunday.
The popular annual event begins at 9am from the grounds of Chichester College and attracts participants of all ages and abilities. While many of the runners will be experienced athletes chasing personal bests, others will be taking part to raise money for local charities or simply to enjoy the atmosphere of a large community race.
As well as the half marathon, which covers just over 13 miles, organisers are also offering shorter routes of 10 miles and 6 miles, giving more people the chance to get involved. All three courses take runners through scenic parts of the city and surrounding countryside, combining historic streets with beautiful views of the South Downs.
The race is seen as one of the highlights of the local sporting calendar, drawing competitors from across West Sussex and beyond. Spectators are expected to line parts of the route to cheer on the athletes, creating a lively atmosphere across Chichester.
Many of those taking part will be running in support of good causes. Local charities and community groups regularly benefit from the event, which has built a reputation not only for its challenging course but also for its fundraising impact. Among the runners this year is V2 Radio’s Adam Choi who is part of the social media team and a reporter, and is taking on the half-marathon in aid of St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Chichester.

With good weather forecast, this year’s half marathon is expected to see strong turnout. Whether running the full distance or one of the shorter alternatives, participants are being urged to enjoy the day, stay hydrated, and soak up the atmosphere of an event that has become a firm fixture in Chichester’s calendar.
