The 3G artificial football pitch at Arun Leisure Centre in Felpham has undergone a significant upgrade.
The facility now boasts a new playing surface, designed to improve quality and durability, while the redesign also increases the number of playable areas. The improvements mean the pitch now meets FA regulations, enabling local community clubs to host official matches at the venue.
Councillor Carol Birch, Chair of Arun District Council’s Housing and Wellbeing Committee, said the investment underlines the council’s commitment to local leisure facilities:
“This upgrade reflects our ongoing commitment to improving local leisure facilities and ensuring residents have access to safe, modern, and inclusive spaces for sport and recreation. The 3G pitch is a well-used asset, and this investment will ensure it continues to serve the community for years to come.”
The refurbishment was completed over the summer holidays to minimise disruption, ensuring the pitch was ready for the new season. Contractors also placed a strong focus on environmental factors, including improved water management and measures to reduce environmental impact.
