Gatwick Airport has announced the launch of two new routes to Germany, strengthening its connections with key European cities.
The new services will be operated by low-cost airline Eurowings, which is part of Germany’s national carrier, Lufthansa. From March, Eurowings will operate thirteen flights a week between Gatwick and Cologne, providing frequent links to one of Germany’s major cultural and business hubs. A second route will follow in April, with six flights a week launching to Stuttgart.
Airport bosses say the additional routes will give passengers more choice when travelling to Germany for both business and leisure, while also improving onward connections across Europe through Eurowings’ wider network.
The announcement comes shortly after another German airline, Condor, confirmed it will begin flying from Gatwick to Frankfurt three times a day from April. Frankfurt is one of Europe’s busiest aviation hubs, and the new service is expected to offer travellers convenient connections to destinations worldwide.
The expansion shows Gatwick’s continued growth following recent challenges in the aviation industry, with airlines increasing capacity and opening new routes to meet rising demand.
