A new wheelchair-accessible swing has been installed at the Lion’s Den play area in Littlehampton, offering more inclusive play opportunities for children and families.
The new equipment was officially viewed by Arun District Council’s Chairman, Councillor Freddie Tandy, who was joined by Councillor Amanda Worne and Councillor Billy Blanchard-Cooper.
The swing has been installed on new rubber safety surfacing, with additional rubber pathways added across the site to improve access. The improvements are designed to make it easier for wheelchair users and those with mobility needs to move around the play area and enjoy the facilities together.
The project has been supported by £30,000 of Community Infrastructure Levy funding, which was awarded to help deliver more inclusive play provision across the district.
Designed by GL Jones Ltd, the swing allows wheelchair users to access the equipment independently and can be opened using a RADAR key.
