Two prolific offenders have been sentenced after raiding a Worthing phone shop.
The court heard that 51-year-old Robert Jody May of Whiterock Place, in Southwick, cut through a wall to reach the stockroom of the town’s 3 store in March this year, while 42-year-old Joseph Perry of Whitebeam Road, in Worthing acted as lookout.
Together, they stole more than £36,000 worth of phones and accessories.
Police say both men have extensive criminal records with more than 70 convictions between them. They will now each serve three years in prison.
Detective Inspector Andrew Ricks from Worthing CID said: “Both men went to extensive lengths in order to steal mobile phones and accessories in Worthing.
“Through a careful and thorough investigation, we were able to prove to the jury how they carried out the burglary.
“We know the impact that burglary has on victims and on businesses, and we were determined to get justice in this case.
“I am pleased that two prolific offenders are now behind bars serving custodial sentences.”
