A prolific shoplifter from Southampton has been jailed for four months and banned from all Co-op, Tesco, One Stop and Boots stores in Hampshire.
Robbie Jones was sentenced last week for 20 offences of shoplifting and for breaching bail conditions.
The 31-year-old, of Butts Road in Southampton, pleaded guilty to the offences which occurred between June last year and March this year.
As part of his sentencing, our team applied to the court for a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). These orders give a variety of conditions which can be applied to a person to seek to deter and prevent crime.
Southampton Magistrates' Court heard among the offences committed by Jones was the thefts of alcohol, razor blades, chocolate, hair care products and other drinks.
He was jailed for four months by magistrates, ordered to pay £2,254 compensation, and a CBO was granted for five years. The order bans Jones from all Co-op, Tesco, One Stop and Boots stores. It also dictates that he must leave any other store he is allowed to enter if asked to do so, and that he must always have any items picked up in the store clearly in a basket.
