Red Nose capers at Westergate care home

Staff and residents at Westergate House in Fontwell have taken part in a day of amusing antics to raise money for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day.

Fun was had by all when the staff team entertained residents with a programme of entertainment in aid of the Red nose appeal.  A fancy dress parade of stage and screen characters gave everyone a chance to choose their favourite. With James Bond, Mary Poppins and Calamity Jane but a few, it wasn’t an easy task.  Captain Jack Sparrow was the winner and was very surprised to beat Richard Gere – who had such natural style!  The afternoon saw an inter-community ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’ with a healthy measure of rivalry.  Residents in the House were the confirmed winners and were awarded a trophy for their general knowledge skills.  A sweepstake to win a luxury hamper rounded off the afternoon.

Comic Relief spends the money raised by Red Nose Day to help people living tough lives across the UK and internationally. Since its launch in 1988, Red Nose Day has become a British institution when people across the country get together to raise money at their home, school and work, accompanied by an exciting night of TV on the BBC, full of comedy and entertainment to inspire the nation to give generously.

Residents and staff at Westergate House were all very supportive and were there to cheer on the participants as they began the fundraising challenge.

Evaa resident at Westergate House, said: “Taking part in Red Nose Day has been a huge amount of fun and everyone at the home has been behind us all the way. It’s for such an important cause. I’m very glad to be able to do my bit to raise further awareness and money for the charity.”
