Residents in Adur and Worthing are being encouraged to help shape the councils’ new long-term vision for the area.
The Joint Overview and Scrutiny Committee (JOSC) a cross-party watchdog made up of councillors from both districts, will review the new Fair, Green & Local strategy at its next public meeting. The committee is inviting residents to take part, ask questions, and share their views during public question time.
The meeting will take place on Thursday, November 6, in the Gordon Room at Worthing Town Hall, starting at 6:30pm.
During the session, committee members will question Paul Brewer, the councils’ new Chief Executive, alongside Cllr Jeremy Gardner, Leader of Adur District Council, and Cllr Sophie Cox, Leader of Worthing Borough Council. They will discuss both the incoming and outgoing corporate strategies and how lessons learned from previous initiatives are shaping future priorities.
The Fair, Green & Local strategy sets out the councils’ shared vision for the period 2025–2028, focusing on three core principles, creating a fairer, greener, and more local future. It builds on the councils’ previous corporate plan, Our Plan, and draws heavily on feedback from the Thriving Together community engagement programme. That process highlighted the importance of keeping decisions local, investing in community and culture, improving public spaces, and ensuring better opportunities for young people.
At the heart of the new strategy is a draft delivery plan, which translates these priorities into a series of clear, measurable actions and projects. The councils say the aim is to make the strategy both ambitious and achievable, reflecting the needs and aspirations of local residents.
Feedback gathered during the upcoming meeting will be used to refine the final version of the strategy before it goes to the Joint Strategic Committee for adoption in December 2025.

The councils say they hope as many residents as possible will engage with the process to help shape a fairer, more sustainable, and community-focused future for Adur and Worthing.
