A man has been remanded in custody charged with rape and sexual offences relating to three girls in West Sussex.
Tarek Miah, 20, of Littlehampton Road in Salvington, has been charged with four counts of rape, causing a child to engage in a penetrative sexual act, causing a child to watch a sexual act, casing a child to engage in a non-penetrative sexual act and false imprisonment.
The charges relate to a report received on 7 February of two teenage girls being kept in a vehicle against their will in Midhurst, and a report of non-recent sexual offending involving a girl in the Durrington area.
All three victims are being supported by specialist officers.
Miah has been remanded in custody to appear before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (11 February).
Chief Inspector Adam McCaig said: “We understand the public’s concerns about these offences, and we have taken the reports extremely seriously.
“A man was arrested and has been charged in connection with two separate investigations.
“Officers have completed additional patrols in Midhurst and in Durrington in order to provide reassurance, and we encourage anyone who has been impacted by incidents of rape or sexual offences to report it to Sussex Police.”
