After more than 26 years of volunteering, a Shoreham woman has been recognised with one of St John Ambulance’s highest honours.
Karen Bennett has been admitted into The Order of St John — the Royal Order of Chivalry, celebrating exceptional service and dedication.
Her award continues a family legacy, making her the final member of her family to receive the prestigious honour.
Karen, who was invested into the Order on 17th October 2025, now joins her husband Peter and her two children, Carl and Ricky who have also been admitted into The Order of St John. This means the entire Bennett family have achieved the rare distinction of all holding membership within the Order which is approved by His Majesty the King, which acknowledges individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to its charitable foundations.
Darren Owen, County Commissioner for Sussex, said “As County Commissioner, it makes me very proud to have such a dedicated family in Sussex and to have all their hard work, individually over the years, recognised at such a high level in the organisation.”
