Two defibrillator machines installed in Littlehampton

Potentially lifesaving defibrillator machines have been fitted outside the Civic Centre and the Look and Sea Centre in Littlehampton.

The devices, which have been installed by Arun District Council, are available for use by anybody at any time without the need of an access code. Self-explanatory instructions will be given to talk the user through the process, making it easy to use with no training necessary.

It is important to have defibrillator machines in accessible locations like these as every minute it takes for the defibrillator to reach someone and deliver a shock, their chances of survival reduce.

Councillor Jacky Pendleton, Chair of Housing and Wellbeing Services Committee at Arun District Council, said:

“Defibrillators save lives, so I’m delighted that these will be available for the public to use should the unfortunate need arise. These devices are safe and simple to use so no one should be worried about using one if they need to and know that using it could save someone’s life.”

More information about defibrillators can be found on the British Heart Foundation website.
