UPDATE: Isle of Wight helicopter crash

Police say they are continuing to work alongside the Air Accident Investigation Branch following the deadly helicopter crash on the Isle of Wight.

Justyna Czoska, aged 52, and Wojciech Kowalkowski, aged 49, who were both from Banbury, and Simon Hewitt, aged 54 who was from Barton-upon-Humber died in the incident.

Simon Hewitt’s partner and family said: “Simon was the most wonderful, intelligent, kind man and father. He bought so much joy and light into our lives. we are absolutely broken”

A fourth person in the helicopter, a man aged in his 30’s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

On FlightRadar24 it shows the helicopter with callsign G-0CLV disappearing from radar at 9:22am on Bank Holiday Monday.

It is understood that the flight came down during a flying lesson.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing the helicopter spiral out of control before it crashed into a hedge bordering the field. 

Activity at the crash site located in a field near the A3020, Shanklin Road is expected to be completed by the end of Wednesday 27 August.
