South East Coast Ambulance Service has rolled out new technology designed to alert drivers when an ambulance is nearby.
The digital system sends notifications to compatible smartphones and in-car navigation devices, warning motorists of ambulances moving through traffic or stopped at an emergency.
After a successful trial last year, the alert has now been fitted across SECAmb’s fleet.
Driving Standards Manager for SECAmb, Huw Watts said: “Following a successful trial across Kent, Surrey and Sussex, we’re really pleased to introduce the new digital alert system which will help us keep our ambulance staff, patients and communities as safe as possible.
