Homes in and around Selsey have seen their water supplies restored after an overnight fault left some properties without water or experiencing low pressure earlier today.
Portsmouth Water has confirmed that repairs have now been completed and services are returning to normal across the affected area. The disruption was caused by a fault that occurred overnight, prompting engineers to carry out urgent repair work during the morning.
In an update issued this afternoon, the company apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused and thanked residents for their patience while the issue was resolved.
Portsmouth Water said it was pleased to confirm that supplies were now restored, but advised some customers may notice cloudy water or slight discolouration as a result of the repair work.
The company stressed that this is a normal occurrence following such incidents and does not pose any health risk. Customers experiencing discoloured water are being advised to run their cold kitchen tap for around ten minutes, or until the water runs clear.
Engineers say the issue should clear naturally as the network stabilises, but anyone who continues to experience problems is encouraged to contact the company directly.
Further guidance and advice on water quality, including what to do if discolouration persists, is available on Portsmouth Water’s website portsmouthwater.co.uk/water-quality/
