It’s another busy weekend of football across Sussex and Hampshire, with league matches and cup ties taking place across the region — from the Premier League to the lower divisions of the non-league pyramid.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton return to the Amex Stadium this afternoon as they take on Newcastle United in the Premier League. The Seagulls will be hoping to continue their good form at home, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side looking to build momentum after a mixed run of results in recent weeks. Newcastle arrive on the south coast eager to strengthen their push for a top-half finish, promising an entertaining encounter for the Amex crowd.

In the Women’s Super League, Brighton’s women’s team are also in home action this weekend. They host south-coast rivals Southampton at the Amex on Sunday, with kick-off at 2pm. The Seagulls will be looking to make the most of home advantage after a challenging start to their campaign.

Portsmouth

In League One, Portsmouth make the long trip to Leicester City today. John Mousinho’s side will be hoping to keep their promotion push on track as they face one of the division’s strongest teams. Pompey have shown resilience on the road this season and will need to be at their best to take points from the Foxes at the King Power Stadium.

Portsmouth’s women’s team are also away this weekend, travelling to Charlton Athletic on Sunday. They’ll be aiming to bounce back after a tough run and continue their push up the Women’s Championship table.

Southampton

Southampton are back at St Mary’s today, where they welcome Swansea City. Russell Martin’s side remain in the mix near the top of the Championship and will look to maintain their promotion challenge in front of a home crowd. Swansea, meanwhile, will be hoping to cause an upset as they chase valuable points.

Crawley Town

In League Two, Crawley Town are on their travels this afternoon with a visit to Shrewsbury Town. The Reds have enjoyed a promising start to the season but face a difficult test against a well-organised Shrewsbury side.

Non-League Football

In the National League South, Worthing are away to Chelmsford City in what will be manager Adam Hinshelwood’s first Saturday match since returning to the club. Hinshelwood, who recently left York City, is back in Sussex and looking to make an immediate impact as Worthing aim to climb further up the table.

Elsewhere, Bognor Regis Town are away to Southall, while their women’s team are in action on Sunday against Bexhill at the Polegrove Ground.

Chichester City are at home today, welcoming Billericay Town to Oaklands Park. The hosts will be looking to continue their recent run of solid performances.

And at the Seal Bay Stadium, Selsey are at home to Reigate Priory this afternoon, with kick-off at 3pm. The Blues will be hoping to make home advantage count as they look for three points.
