People across Hampshire and parts of West Sussex are being urged to prepare for heavy rain, as unsettled weather continues to affect the south coast.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain, warning that heavy and persistent showers could lead to surface water flooding, difficult driving conditions and possible disruption to travel. The warning covers large parts of Hampshire and West Sussex, with rainfall expected to fall quickly in short periods.
The latest alert comes as residents along Shripney Road, just outside Bognor Regis, continue to deal with flooding issues. The area has already been badly affected by standing water, and further heavy rain could make conditions worse for nearby homes and roads. Elsewhere, flooding is currently being reported in parts of Sidlesham and on the Isle of Wight around Brading.
The Met Office is advising people to keep up to date with the latest forecasts and local warnings, as the situation could change at short notice. The weather warning for rain ends at midnight tonight.
Safety advice for residents includes avoiding driving through floodwater, as it can be deeper than it looks and may conceal hazards beneath the surface. People are also urged not to walk through fast-moving water and to take extra care near rivers, streams and drains that could overflow.
Householders in flood-prone areas are advised to check drains and gutters where it is safe to do so, move valuables upstairs if necessary, and prepare flood protection measures if they have them. Anyone affected by flooding should follow advice from local authorities and emergency services.
