Man arrested after fatal crash kills pedestrian in Linlithgow

A 27-year-old man has been arrested following a fatal crash in West Lothian.

A 48-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Linlithgow's Main Street at about 12.20am on Sunday.

Emergency crews attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland said his next of kin had been made aware as it issued an appeal in a bid to trace the occupants of a Renault Clio reportedly involved in the collision.

In an update on Monday, the force said a 27-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Inspector Thomas Mallinson earlier said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died."
