A man has pleaded guilty to a charge of dangerous driving following a collision on the A27 westbound between Falmer and Hollingbury on Saturday (3 January).
Terry Bridgewater, 47, of Saunders Hill, Brighton, appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday 5 January and admitted the charge.
The court heard Bridgewater was the driver of a BMW car which sped off after a police vehicle had cause to try and stop it. It moved in and out of the queuing traffic and collided with a Range Rover vehicle just before 6pm. Bridgewater then left the vehicle and ran off across the carriageway. He was later located and arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and taken to custody.
Bridgewater was remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 2 February for sentencing.
