V2 Radio's Bring Us Your Bras appeal, sponsored by JEM Property Services, encourages people across the South to donate unwanted or unloved bras to help fund vital breast cancer research.
The campaign, is calling on listeners and residents to get involved, and accepts bras in any condition. The initiative supports the national charity Against Breast Cancer, which operates a large-scale bra recycling scheme to raise money for pioneering medical research.
Breast cancer remains the most common cancer in the UK. Each year, around 55,500 women and 390 men are diagnosed with the disease, more than 150 people every single day. Overall, breast cancer accounts for around 15 per cent of all newly diagnosed cancers nationwide, underlining the importance of continued research and awareness.
Through its network of bra banks, Against Breast Cancer recycles donated bras to generate funding for its work. For every tonne of bras collected, the charity receives £700 to invest directly into research programmes. With more than 30 million women in the UK, organisers say even small donations can collectively make a significant difference.
Against Breast Cancer funds ground-breaking studies aimed at improving early detection, treatment options and survival rates. A major focus of its research is preventing secondary spread, which is the leading cause of breast cancer-related deaths.
V2 Radio says the Bring Us Your Bras appeal offers a simple but effective way for people to support life-saving research while also recycling items they no longer need. The station is urging as many people as possible to take part and help boost the funds raised this year.
The appeal runs until Friday, the 27th of March, with donations accepted across the South during that period. To find your nearest drop off point go to V2RADIO.CO.UK
