Children and Family Centres in West Sussex to reopen

Children and Family Centres across West Sussex will begin to reopen again from Monday, 21 June.

The centres have been closed for general use because of the Covid-19 pandemic and now 17 Children and Family Centres will soon reopen for families to visit again.

A full list of the buildings reopening this month is below and people are advised to check the Council’s website for revised opening hours of their local centre.

The 17 centres will re-open providing the following services:

  • Drop-ins for information, advice, and guidance
  • Support for families in crisis
  • Toy Libraries offering free rental of children’s toys

Health services such as maternity support will continue to be delivered from Children and Family Centres as they have done throughout the pandemic.

Unfortunately, group work such as stay and play will not be reintroduced at the current time as staff are required to prioritise work in the community. However, the County Council is working with partners to start group work again when it is agreed it is safe to do so and an update will be provided as soon as possible.

The reopening of Children and Family Centres from 21 June is due to national Covid-19 restrictions easing and is separate from the County Council’s Early Help Service Redesign proposals. A ten-week public consultation on these proposals has recently closed and an update will be discussed at the next Children and Young People’s Services Scrutiny Committee on 30 June, 2021.
