Crawley Town Football Club have strongly condemned the racial abuse suffered by head coach Colin Kazim-Richards following their weekend match against Accrington Stanley.
The club says Kazim-Richards was subjected to abuse by some Accrington supporters during a post-match interview.
Crawley Town described the incident as completely unacceptable and said racism has no place in football or wider society.
The club says it will work with the relevant authorities to help identify those responsible and ensure appropriate action is taken.
The incident has again highlighted the issue of racism in football, with clubs and governing bodies continuing to face calls to do more to tackle abuse both inside stadiums and online.
In recent seasons, players and managers across the country have spoken out after being targeted with racist abuse from supporters and on social media.
Several matches have also seen anti-discrimination protocols used, with games paused or reports made to officials following allegations of abuse from the stands.
Football authorities have repeatedly said discrimination will not be tolerated, while campaign groups have urged fans to report racist behaviour when they witness it.
Crawley Town’s response comes as clubs continue to work with police, leagues and anti-racism organisations to identify offenders and issue sanctions, which can include stadium bans and criminal investigations.
Crawley Town FC have released the following statement: "Crawley Town Football Club strongly condemns the racial abuse suffered by Head Coach Colin Kazim-Richards following this afternoon’s fixture against Accrington Stanley.
"Kazim-Richards was subject to the abuse during this post-match interview from a minority of Accrington Stanley supporters.
"Abuse of this kind has absolutely no place in football or the wider society, and the club will be working with the relevant authorities to find those responsible.
"The club will be making no further comment at this time."
