Firefighters have been called to a fire at the Cat and Rabbit charity shop in Littlehampton High Street.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said Joint Fire Control was alerted just before 9am this morning, after reports of a fire at a commercial premises.
Three fire crews from Littlehampton and Worthing were sent to the scene.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and extinguished the ground-floor fire using hose reels and jets.
Emergency services have confirmed that everyone has been accounted for and there are no reports of any injuries.
Crews remained at the scene after the fire had been put out, carrying out damping down work and checking for remaining hotspots.
The incident has led to a fire service presence in Littlehampton town centre this morning, with people in the area urged to allow emergency crews space to work.
A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said: "We are currently responding to a fire at a commercial premises in Littlehampton High Street.
"Joint Fire Control were alerted to the fire at 8.51am and three crews from Littlehampton and Worthing are at the scene.
"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have extinguished the ground floor fire using hose reels and jets, and they remain at the scene damping down hotspots."
The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
