A special prom night for LGBTQ+ young people is being held in Brighton this summer, aiming to create a safe, welcoming and joyful celebration for those who may have felt out of place at traditional school proms.
Brighton Queer Prom 2026 will welcome LGBTQ+ young people aged 16 to 21 from across Sussex. The event is being hosted by Allsorts Youth in partnership with Brighton & Hove Museums.
Organisers say the prom will transform Brighton Museum & Art Gallery into a magical space filled with queer joy, music, art and community.
The event has been created for young people who may have skipped prom in the past, or felt unwelcome or unable to fully be themselves.
Nancy Kelley, CEO of Allsorts said: "At Allsorts we’re on a mission to make sure every LGBTQ+ young person in Sussex can make friends, build community and feel proud of who they are. Brighton Queer Prom is all about that – this is a night for LGBTQ+ young people to feel seen, celebrated and surrounded by joy."
Brighton & Hove Museums says it is proud to be supporting the event and opening up one of the city’s key cultural venues for the celebration.
Hedley Swain, CEO of Brighton & Hove Museums said: "We’re proud to open the doors of Brighton Museum & Art Gallery for Brighton Queer Prom and help create a space where LGBTQ+ young people can celebrate freely and authentically. Hosting the event in our Central Gallery will transform the Museum into a place filled with joy, creativity and connection, values that are at the heart of both Brighton & Hove Museums and our city."
Brighton Queer Prom will be held on 10th July at Brighton Museum and Art Gallery.
It will run from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, with tickets available for free through Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/brighton-queer-prom-2026-tickets-1989544932450
