Public car parks across Adur are being cleaned and tidied as part of a programme to improve sites throughout the district.

Adur District Council says teams are visiting its ground-level car parks to cut back undergrowth, remove overhanging branches, trim shrubbery and clear weeds.

Work has already taken place at Tarmount Lane car park and the residents-only car park in Brighton Road, Shoreham-by-Sea.

The Ropetackle car park in Shoreham and Southwick Square car park have also been weeded as part of the programme.

The council says the work is intended to make the sites cleaner, tidier and safer for people using them.

Before-and-after photographs released by the authority show clearance work carried out at Tarmount Lane and Brighton Road.

The programme will cover council car parks across Sompting, Lancing, Shoreham, Southwick and Fishersgate.

Adur District Council said it was investing in the sites to make them “brighter and more welcoming places to visit”.

Teams will continue visiting ground-level car parks across the district as the improvement work progresses.
