A man has been arrested on suspicion of human trafficking after five people were discovered in a lorry on the A27 this morning.
Police were called to Crossbush near Arundel following reports of noise coming from a parked vehicle.
Those found inside have been detained on suspicion of entering the UK illegally.
The road has since reopened after a temporary closure.
Statement from Sussex Police:
Police were called to reports of a noise coming from a parked lorry on the A27 at Crossbush, near Arundel, on Monday morning (19 January).
We located five people in the rear of the vehicle and they have been detained on suspicion of illegal entry to the country. A man has been arrested on suspicion of arranging or facilitating travel of another person with a view to exploitation and taken to custody.
The road was closed while the incident was ongoing but has now re-opened.
An investigation is ongoing alongside other agencies.
