Portsmouth residents are being encouraged to share their views on the city’s library service as part of a new survey.
The consultation is being jointly run by Portsmouth City Council and the University of Portsmouth and aims to build a clearer picture of how people use and value their local libraries. Residents are being asked which libraries they visit, what they use them for, how the service supports their community and how their experiences of libraries may have changed over time. The feedback will help inform future improvements to the service, while also contributing to academic research into the history and development of Portsmouth’s libraries. Libraries across the city provide residents with free access to books, information and learning opportunities, alongside activities, events and community spaces. Cllr Steve Pitt, Leader of Portsmouth City Council, said: “Our libraries are at the heart of communities across Portsmouth. We want to hear from residents about the role they play in their lives and what they’d like to see from the service in the future. Every response will help us build a better picture of what matters most to local people.” The survey will remain open until midnight on August 11. People can complete it online through the Portsmouth Libraries survey page https://www.research.net/r/PortsmouthLibrariesUOP The survey can also be completed by telephone by calling 023 9261 6708. Council officials say every response will contribute to a better understanding of what local people want from the library service in the years ahead.
