A man has been charged with kidnap, aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving following a collision in Hastings.
Alfie Foster, 22, of Crowborough Road, Hastings, is also charged with intentional strangulation, and assault on a woman known to him and theft from a dwelling.
Officers were called about 12.27am on Sunday 18 January after a car collided with railings in St Helen’s Road.
The passenger – a 23-year-old local woman – was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, while the driver left the scene. He was arrested after being located at a nearby address.
Foster has been remanded to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 21 January.
