A moped rider caught dealing Class A drugs in Crawley has been jailed.
In December last year, police stopped Anthony Foukx on a footpath in the Northgate area last month, after spotting the same moped previously making off from officers in the town.
A search uncovered dozens of wraps of crack cocaine and heroin, along with more than £1,300 in cash.
Foukx who is 31 from South Lambeth Road in London was sentenced to three years and four months in prison at Lewes Crown Court.
Crawley NPT Sergeant Alan Fiest said: “We understand residents’ concerns about drug dealing in their area.
“That is why we are determined to disrupt the supply of drugs which cause so much harm in our communities.
“Officers put themselves at risk of a moped rider riding on a pedestrian footpath in order to safely detain a dealer who was operating a telephone line to supply heroin and crack cocaine.
“Because of the evidence, Foukx had no choice but to plead guilty when this matter came to court.
“I’m pleased that he is now serving a significant custodial sentence. We continue to ask the public to report incidents of drug dealing and anti-social behaviour to us on the Sussex Police website or by calling Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
