A magical and mythical dining experience is coming to Brighton’s Royal Pavilion this summer.
On Thursday 2 July, the iconic landmark will host the Palace of Dragons Banquet, a one-off after-hours event combining dragon-inspired fine dining, performance and storytelling.
Organisers say it will be the first time in known history that a Chinese banquet has been served at the Royal Pavilion, the former seaside palace of King George IV, which is famous for its Asian-inspired architecture and interiors.
Guests will begin the evening with Dragon's Breath Punch in the Royal Pavilion’s Great Kitchen, before moving into the Music Room for dragon-inspired entertainment. The event will then culminate with a three-course fine dining experience in the Pavilion’s famous Banqueting Room, beneath the legendary one-tonne, two-storey high dragon chandelier.
The carefully curated menu has been designed as a shared, theatrical dining experience, with a dramatic finalé in the form of a Dragon’s Egg Dessert, created specially for the evening.
Guests will dine while dragon-inspired music is performed live by a harpist, with atmospheric storytelling woven throughout the night to bring the mythology, beauty and power of dragons into the heart of the Royal Pavilion.
“The Palace of Dragons Banquet will come alive in this one-off after-hours experience like no other,” says David Purdue, Senior Events Manager at the Royal Pavilion. “Guests will get to experience a fully realised fantasy experience where storytelling, performance, and exquisite food come together in one of the most visually spectacular settings in the country.”
Guests are being encouraged to dress in fantasy finery if they wish.
