Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision in Southsea left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries.

Officers were called at around 2.05am on Sunday 30 August to reports of a collision at the junction of Victoria Road North, Elm Grove and Outram Road.

The incident involved a pedestrian and a blue Mazda.

The pedestrian, a 52-year-old man, suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary says enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.

As part of the investigation, officers are appealing to anyone who may have seen what happened, including the moments leading up to the collision and its immediate aftermath.

Police are also asking people to check whether they may have captured relevant footage on dashcams, CCTV systems, mobile phones or doorbell cameras.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 44260422684.
