Sussex Police officer charged with off-duty driving offence

A Sussex Police officer has been charged with off-duty driving offences in Crawley.

Police were called to a report of a single-vehicle collision at the Ridleys Corner Roundabout in Crawley at around 12:55am on Tuesday (19 May).

The vehicle was found abandoned, but enquiries traced its owner to his home address.

Connor Farrell, 23, a learner Detective Constable based on West Sussex division, was arrested at around 2am after failing a breathalyser test.

He was subsequently charged with driving while over the prescribed limit and driving while unfit through drink or drugs. He has been released on conditional bail pending an appearance at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 16 July.

Farrell has been suspended from duty, and the Independent Office for Police Conduct has been informed as is standard procedure.
