A yellow heat health alert has been issued for the South by the UK Health Security Agency.
The alert will take effect from 12:00 PM on Monday, 11 August, and remain in place until 6:00 PM on Wednesday, 13 August 2025.
According to the latest Met Office data, temperatures are expected to reach highs of around 28°C, with plenty of sunshine and occasional patchy cloud.
Hay fever sufferers should be aware that the pollen count will be high, and UV levels are also expected to be high, prompting advice for those outdoors to apply suitable sun protection.
Residents in Portsmouth, Chichester, Worthing, Littlehampton, Brighton, and Eastbourne can expect temperatures to peak at around 28°C.
The Weather Health Alerting System, operated by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) in partnership with the Met Office, provides early warnings when extreme temperatures are likely to impact public health. It supports the health and social care sector, emergency responders, community organisations, and government departments in preparing for and mitigating weather-related health risks.
