Firefighters tackled a blaze which spread across two fields and a hedge near Ringmer.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a field fire near Norlington Lane at 12.56pm on Thursday, 13 August.
The fire initially affected an area of grassland measuring approximately 50 metres by 50 metres.
One fire engine and two four-by-four vehicles were first sent to the scene, while people were asked to avoid the surrounding area.
By 1.54pm, the fire had spread across two fields and one hedge. Firefighters used wildfire beaters, hose reels and flexible backpack fire extinguishers to bring the flames under control.
The response was increased shortly afterwards as crews continued to tackle the blaze.
By 2.02pm, two fire engines from Preston Circus and Lewes were at the scene, together with three four-by-four vehicles. Firefighters from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service also supported the operation.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service reported that steady progress had been made as crews worked to contain the incident.
By 2.42pm, firefighters were damping down remaining hotspots and the number of resources at the scene had been reduced.
One fire engine from Lewes and one four-by-four vehicle remained in attendance, alongside continued support from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.
