A community in Selsey is coming together tonight to support a teenage girl facing a life-changing cancer diagnosis.
Kelcee, 17, is currently undergoing intensive treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia after being diagnosed on 7th January. Instead of preparing to celebrate her 18th birthday next month, she is now facing a long and challenging road ahead, with further chemotherapy expected to continue for up to two years.
Her family say the diagnosis came as a devastating shock, with doctors revealing that 91 per cent of her body was affected by the disease. Despite this, they describe her as showing “incredible strength and bravery” throughout her treatment so far.
In response, the Selsey community has rallied in support, organising a major fundraising event taking place this evening at The Victory Club.
The event gets underway at 7pm, with free entry and raffle tickets priced at £2. Tickets have been made widely available across the town, including at Paula’s Salon, The Neptune, The Victory Club and The Boulevard, where Kelcee previously worked.
Dozens of prizes have been donated by local businesses and residents, ranging from beauty treatments and gym memberships to restaurant vouchers and cash prizes.
Organisers say the response has been overwhelming, highlighting the strength of community spirit in Selsey.
Alongside the event, an online fundraising page continues to gather support with over £7,000 raised so far.
Money raised will help ease financial pressures on Kelcee’s family and allow her to enjoy special moments in the months ahead, including marking her milestone 18th birthday.
