Parents in West Sussex have now been told which primary schools their children will attend.
West Sussex County Council says its admissions team has processed 8,309 applications for children starting school this year. Of those, 99 per cent will be offered a place at one of their three preferred schools.
The majority of families have secured their top choice, with 91.8 per cent – equivalent to 7,631 applicants – being offered their first preference.
There has also been a positive outcome for those moving up from infant to junior school. The council received 1,294 applications for these transfers, with every child set to be offered their first choice.
All school place offers were issued by email last night.
However, the council says support is available for those who may not have received one of their preferred options. Families in this position are being encouraged to get in touch with the admissions team, who can talk through alternative schools and next steps.
Parents and carers can contact the team by emailing admissions.north@westsussex.gov.uk or admissions.south@westsussex.gov.uk. Alternatively, they can call the council’s customer services team on 033 301 42903 for further advice.
