A man has been arrested following a fire at a flat in Littlehampton.
Emergency services were called to Bayford Road at around midday on Thursday, 20 August.
Sussex Police said a 38-year-old local man was taken to hospital as a precaution before being arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and assaulting an emergency worker.
He remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “Police were called to a fire at a flat in Bayford Road, Littlehampton, at approximately midday on Thursday 20 August.
“A 38-year-old local man was initially taken to hospital as a precaution, and arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and assault of an emergency worker. He remains in custody at this time.
“Our enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact Sussex Police online or via 101, quoting serial 609 of 20/08.”
Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
